City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder goes live with Altus Financials
The Goldfields local government authority is the largest organisation to set the system live to date with over 360 employees and a population of over 30,000 people. Altus Financials offers an extensive portfolio of financial tools delivered through a simple user interface, which is accessible at any time, from any location.
The Shire of Gingin was the first site to rollout the integrated financial management solution back in 2020, however the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, at almost six times the size of Gingin, had different and more extensive requirements.
City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Brien, said the organisation was already noticing the benefits of the new system.
“The City is excited to be leading the way in using cloud-based financial management and have already noticed an improvement in work efficiency and the user experience,” said Brien.
“City Officers have expressed how happy they are using Altus and that it is a very intuitive solution, easy to use and navigate.”
“We have enjoyed working with IT Vision throughout the development phase all the way through to our go live. There was no task that was too hard, and we appreciate the efforts of the team who have gone above and beyond to ensure the transition was as smooth as possible.”
Altus Financials enables the efficient management of transactions and includes a full suite of accounting tools such as Accounts Payable and Receivable, Bank Reconciliation, Project Accounting and the core General Ledger accounting engine. The platform also has high levels of cyber-security, business continuity, audit control, organisational governance and workflow built-in to ensure a seamless user experience.
Within the first week of implementation, the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder generated the following in the Altus Financials platform:
- 1,100+ Receipts
- 280+ Purchase Orders & Goods Receipts
- 700+ Invoices
IT Vision CEO, Nigel Lutton, said the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder go live was a particularly exciting milestone as it marked General Availability for the Altus Financials product.
“Altus Financials is an impressive software solution that has been built from the ground up at IT Vision. We’ve drawn on the expertise of our key customers and staff as well as our 30 years of local government experience to create a modern, financial management solution,” said Lutton.
“The IT Vision project team have worked alongside City staff for months to ensure the platform met their requirements and, ultimately, to improve their business processes.”
The collaboration between IT Vision and the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder began seven years ago when the City became an Altus Collaboration Partner back in 2017. Since then, the City has played an active role in shaping the Altus platform from its early research & development phase into what it is today.
“After two Early Adopter implementations at the Shire of Gingin and now the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, I’m proud to say that Altus Financials has reached General Availability, meaning it’s available for purchase and implementation by any local government Australia-wide,” explained Lutton.
Development of the Altus Financials platform is complete and ready-for-use, offering cost and time savings to Councils who are running manual or paper-based financial processes. Altus Financials offers seamless integration with other Altus products including Altus Payroll, Altus Contacts and Altus Content.
